Volunteering is a noble deed. You can volunteer your time or expertise for the betterment of society. The best reason to volunteer is to help others by making a difference and giving back to the community you are part of - a truly honorable reason. Benefit for students and professionals?
The benefits of volunteering are enormous to you, your family and your community.
For fresher's making the transition into a professional career, one of the very best ways to start gathering ideas about what they want to do after graduation is by volunteering. You get to learn about the world of work, build great work-related values and mature socially through volunteering. Being a volunteer allows you to learn important skills you can use in your future careers, like time management, people skills and effective communication skills - skills employees are always looking for. Moreover, many teens end up going into careers that are needed by our society, such as working for non-profits, or getting involved in medical, legal or social work as a result of their experience with volunteering.
For professionals considering a new career, volunteering can help you get experience in your area of interest and meet people in the field. Even if you're not planning on changing careers, volunteering gives you the opportunity to practice important skills used in the workplace, such as teamwork, communication, problem solving, project planning, task management, and organization. Moreover, employers like seeing that you volunteer your time, and are able to manage your time well enough to take on an unpaid position. Volunteerism also suggests that you're a team player, a quality many employers will look for in potential hire.
