IVF is the process of manually fertilizing an egg and sperm in a laboratory dish, and then transferring the embryo to the uterus. Other forms of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) include Gamete Intrafallopian Transfer (GIFT) and Zygote Intrafallopian Transfer (ZIFT).
IVF may be used to treat patients suffering from infertility caused due to:
•  Blocked or damaged fallopian tubes
•  Male factor infertility (including decreased sperm count or sperm motility)
•  Women with ovulation disorders, premature ovarian failure, uterine fibroids
•  Women who have had their fallopian tubes removed
•  Individuals with a genetic disorder
•  Other unexplained infertility
The five basic steps in IVF and embryo transfer include:
•  Monitoring and stimulating development of healthy egg(s) in the ovaries
•  Collecting eggs
•  Securing sperms
•  Transferring embryos into uterus
The success rate of IVF depends on a number of factors including reproductive history, maternal age, cause of infertility, and lifestyle factors. It is important to understand that pregnancy rates are not the same as live birth rates.

staffed by trauma registrar and trained Chief Medical Officer (CMO)

respiratory failure, shock, cardiac, renal and hepatic failure and postoperative multi-specialty surgical cases. Also available
are invasive blood pressure, central venous pressure, Intracranial pressure monitoring and continuous renal replacement
therapy. The ICU services are supported by qualified intensivists, clinical assistants, paramedics and trained nurses
•  Paediatric Neurology: Expert evaluation and assessment of neurological disorders in children such as epilepsy,
movement disorders, cerebral palsy, developmental delay, mental retardation, autism & learning disabilities backed by
comprehensive rehabilitation programmed for the physical and mental handicaps arising from these conditions An ongoing
high infant follow up program coordinated between neonatology and neurology helps to identify infants showing
developmental compromise and provides early interventional therapy by a multidisciplinary team from as early as first 6
months of life
•   Paediatric Nephrology: The only unit in Western Maharashtra offering continuous renal replacement therapy.
Comprehensive kidney transplant package would be provided
•  Paediatric Endoscopy Services: Diagnostic esophago-gastro-duodenoscopy and colonoscopy in neonates and children
and therapeutic endoscopy for varices (sclerotherapy and band ligation), bleeding lesions, foreign body removal and
polypectomy are available round the clock
•  Paediatric Cardiac surgery: Facilities available for various complex cardiac surgeries like PDA ligation, ASD, VSD, TOF,
Coarctation repairs, Arterial switch, TAPVC repair and various valvular surgeries
•  Paediatric Orthopedic Surgery: This super-specialty encompasses all the orthopaedic disorders, both traumatic and
non-traumatic (congenital, developmental, infective, neuromuscular, idiopathic and others), afflicting a growing skeleton,
including neonates, children and young adults. Patients are thoroughly assessed by a paediatric orthopaedic surgeon and

The unit provides pre and postoperative management of neonatal emergencies. They provide round the clock cover and
function as a team. Parents of babies admitted to the unit are allowed unlimited access to visit the baby. They are
encouraged to actively participate in the day-to-day care of their baby. Mothers are encouraged to room in with the baby.
The neonatal and obstetric units work closely together. Difficult pregnancies are discussed and the delivery is planned in
such a manner as to benefit both mother and baby.

Paediatric dietetic expertise is available for counselling. The Paediatric dieticians are experienced in managing a variety of clinical conditions such as celiac disease and cow milk allergy which require skilled dietetic input. An indigenous gluten free diet book has been prepared by the department. Comprehensive eternal and parental nutrition support is routinely provided to all patients.
